#17: Fortune Frenzy

Cool fortune cookies. The idea’s that simple. Don’t you feel betrayed when you crack open a fortune cookie only to find a slip of paper with some cliched proverb on it? A fortune is “A new business undertaking will succeed handily!” A fortune is not, “Honesty is the best policy.” There are no Confucianisms or I-Ching lines that count as fortunes, because, and stop me if I’m going too fast, they don’t contain any reference to future events! Anyway, my idea for a long time has been to make niche fortune cookies that a) have really cool fortunes, or b) have quirky sayings on them. So in terms of b), I think it would be a blast to open a fortune cookie and read, “The man in the blue shirt is trying to kill you!” So Fortune Frenzy is such a company. We craft loving fortunes, outsource cookie production, leverage my San Franciscan and printing connections, and do it all through a passive stream website.
