Well done, James! If you click his link (the name "James" above), you'll see that James, in May 2009, registered a business that does Google Earth models in Sketchup, along with fly-over tour videos, training, and general modeling in Sketchup. So you took it further than my idea, and more power to you for it. Please click through and see James' nice YouTube demonstrations also.

Now let's see if he has the gumption to get it going. James, please keep us informed of various landmarks in the timeline of your business. Your first dollar, your first client who is a complete stranger, your first major client... I assume you have to start this one just by cold calling--half my idea initially was that this would work by virtue of there being no other buildings in your average town, and there would be if there were demand sufficient to do this without cold-calling.

So tell us more, James. Here's an invitation for you to push your goods on someone else's site!

And folks, I have rel="nofollow" turned off; so if you manage to get a link onto my site, Google will honor it and list you and give you cred. So please list businesses inspired by this site. As always, if we've helped you, help us. Put a link to any of our businesses on your site(s).
